I believe the song carries on with ‘my true love sent to me, two turtle doves….’ I’m not entirely sure how they would arrive but I think I may change it slightly to ‘A fabulous Christmas Door wreath’, is that allowed?
How your Christmas preparations are coming along? So far I’ve managed a Christmas tree and of course a wreath for the door, I sneaked a couple of stems of peach spray roses home to put in it as I love to have fresh flowers in the wreath.
We always try and experiment with different ideas for the wreaths, the one above is sitting pride of place on the front door of one of my favourite pubs in Bradford on Avon.
As we step in to the second week of December and the frost steadily creeps its way in to our gardens, we know the time is now to start decking the halls! And the first stop on this decoration train should always be your door wreath!
Door wreaths are the perfect way to Christmas-ify your house and a great way to make a statement! Everyone can have lights and tinsel but a fresh wreath can really personify the festive feel you’re going for.
As ever there are so many gorgeous combinations for decorating your door wreath with the traditional dried oranges and rustic pine cones, varying foliages and unusual plants like succulents that you can put in (we went crazy and sprayed them gold ~ see wreath at top). If your going for the more rustic look, you can always raid your garden for foliage or if you have access to something like the Not So Secret Garden then your’ll be in for a treat. Because that’s exactly what we did for the rather stunning wreath below. I just hope the plants survive the cutting I’ve gave them! 🙂
This year feathers are proving highly fashionable as an incorporation as seen in the beautiful design pictured above. Once you have your decorations in mind you can find the perfect creation for you. Whether you want to go for the bold eye catching colours, the glorious cinnamon scented wreaths that truly awaken the Christmas feel or the textural mixed foliage designs; nothing is impossible this holiday season.
Have fun creating!
