Taking joy in the small moments

Spring flowers

My blog today has a very simple premise and it is the idea of taking notice of the small things that bring you joy. I know the news at the moment feels huge and very terrifying and so I find that in each day I am bringing myself back to the small moments that just give me a lift, I believe the technical word for this is ‘micro joys’ and apparently doing this actively reduces stress and boosts dopamine and that I’m all for!

I’m so glad I bodged this wreath together from bulbs I found on an old wreath in the back garden. It’s a pleasure to see this spring colour everytime I come back home.

I have some ‘chianti shades’ pansies growing on my windowsill in the kitchen, I’ve been keeping a keen eye on them and finally all 5 plants have poked their heads up out of the soil. I consider this a win for feeling of joy.

Yesterday I picked up this lovely thank you card from one of our fab couples. It’s so great to know you’ve done a good job and to be thanked like that is high on the joy scales! You can read more about their wedding here if you fancy. 🙂

I have a planter in front of my house that I stuffed full of bulbs in the autumn, it’s been fun watching what has started poking its head up. Gorgeous to see this little muscari being the first to show their heads.

Being a florist, it’s probably no suprise that I like having fresh flowers in the house. Last week the sun started streaming through the kitchen windows and I brought some of the leftovers home from a wedding we had just finished. These ‘geranium’ narcissus have the best scent and so are perfect for having in the house.
