I wanted to keep this simple, sometimes we want to have a creative project to work on but starting it can be the biggest hurdle. I know as Autumn turns into Winter I certainly want more projects I can sit by the fire and work on and as Christmas approaches its creating and putting on my front door a Christmas wreath.
My front door is a fabulous mustard yellow colour and you can see one of the wreaths I’ve done for it here.
When it comes to making a festive wreath it can be confusing to know which base to start with so I thought I would give you 3 easy options. There is also a quick run through on my youtube channel here if your more visual.
1: MOSS BASE

One of the first jobs I had as a junior florist when I was 18yrs old was mossing wreath bases for Christmas. If the idea of mossing a wreath base is to terrifying then why not find your local florist and go buy one already done.
Once you have your base then you will need either mossing pins to attach your foliage or you can use garden twine or reel wire to bind it all on.

2: Willow BASE
This might be a natural style for some people. I have bought from wreath rings like this from other florists who grow and produce the willow but also have had a go at making wreath bases myself with material from my garden like clematis vine etc. Again I’ve done a video on making one of these and you can watch it here.

3: WIRE FRAME BASE
This is one of the simplest christmas wreathes to make and a style I learnt in one of the first florist shops I worked in. You can buy metal wreath bases from your local florist or you can buy them online here. I’ve also done a youtube video if its helpful to watch someone making it.
