I got back from holiday and was wandering around our flower garden and thought I’d be interested to see what flowers I could pick to make an entirely seasonal bouquet for a bride. So often couples come in and have very specific ideas of looks and designs that they want for their big day and so this felt like a good change.

As you can see colour palette is fairly varied but nothing is too clashing. I’ve popped a list below of all the flowers that I used, scent and texture are key things for me when gathering flowers & foliage from the garden.

I used 4 different types of herbs and included things like dill and lavender, lemon balm, jasmine and sage. Interesting textures came from the rounded echinops to the soft roses, Zinnia are a favourite of mine and the beautifully symmetrical dahlia.

When picking flowers from your garden its always worth thinking about shapes of flower heads. If you think about the difference between a snapdragon and a stem of verbena, or an echinop and a rose. Its known through research that flowers offer visual stimulation for our brains. Helping to lower stress and anxiety so I would pack as much texture into the bouquet as I can.

Foliage is another way to create texture, you can see the lime green of the ‘golden hop’ leaves that pop against the rest of the bouquet.
I finished off the bouquet with a very loud pink bow so I hope you like the finished effect.
Love always from me and the shop dog Winston.
